Paint the Night Sky

Join us on March 11 from 6 – 7:30 for a painting class for adults with The Pop Up Art School.

Each participant will create a painting on canvas of a starry night sky. The presenters will provide instructions on proper brush techniques, how to stabilize the hand to allow for better fine motor control, how to create texture using different paint colors and brushstrokes, plus how to mix paint to create shadows and highlights.

By the end of the class, participants will not only have created a painting, but will have learned techniques for continuing on their own.

No experience is necessary. This is a free class with all materials provided, but space is limited. Please register on our events calendar or call 781.231.4168, ext3107.

How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen

Book Study on Zoom and in Person
How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen By David Brooks

As David Brooks observes, “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family,
school, community organization, or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make
them feel seen—to accurately know another person, to let them feel valued, heard, and
understood.”

From the Book: “On social media you can have the illusion of social contact without having to perform the gestures that actually build trust, care, and affection. On social media, stimulation replaces intimacy. There is judgment everywhere and understanding nowhere.”

All are welcome to join us for a five week discussion on this important book by journalist, David
Brooks. We will be meeting weekly at St. John’s starting on Tuesday, February 27th from
6:30-7:30 p.m. EST in person and on Zoom. If you would like to receive a link or would like
