On June 11th, 2026, the Board of Library Trustees adopted a new Lost & Found Policy. The policy formalizes procedures for dealing with abandoned property found in our building. The policy states:

• Library staff does not accept liability, and is not responsible for monitoring or securing personal property left unattended in our building
• Abandoned property deemed unsafe or unsanitary may be disposed of immediately
• Most abandoned items will be disposed of if not claimed within 14 days
• High value items including but not limited to unclaimed ID cards, credit cards,
  wallets, purses, laptops, cell phones and other electronic devices will be turned over to the
  Saugus Police Department if not claimed within 14 days
