The Library’s Board of Trustees replaced our older Collection Development policy with a new Collection Development Policy on February 4th.
Like the policy it replaces, the new policy covers how we purchase materials, how we maintain our collections, and how we respond to challenges to items in our collections. The newer version is better formatted and, we hope, better organized.
This provisions of the policy are very similar to those contained in the old policy. Our intent is to provide more specifics in those parts of the policy which address collection maintenance and challenges to inclusion. We also brought it into alignment with our current practices and updated language pertaining to digital content and resource sharing.
