The Foundation for the Saugus Public Library will sponsor Pizza with Galileo on Tuesday evening, April 10th, at Prince Pizzeria in Saugus. The event will feature Mike Francis’ The Starry Messenger, a dramatic, fun-filled adptation of Galileo’s 1610 treatise, Siderius Nuncius.
Dressed in 17th century costume, Francis, as Galileo Galilei, draws his audience into the world of invention and discovery. “Galileo’s discoveries, which laid the foundation for modern science, are brought to life by Mike Francis. His performance will be entertaining and educational for audiences as diverse as STEM students, historians, and star gazers,” said Ed Jeffrey, Foundation President.
A physical science and physics teacher, as well as a skilled actor, Mike Francis is a former lecturer at the Charles Hayden Planetarium at Boston’s Museum of Science.
Pizza with Galileo begins at 6 p.m. with pizza and soft drinks, followed by the performance at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per person for adults and $15 per child.
