Merlin Low Vision Reader now available @ the SPL

The Saugus Public Library now offers a new piece of equipment to help our visually-challenged patrons.

The Merlin LCD Enhanced Vision Reader helps partially-sighted people whose vision impairment may be due to macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, glaucoma and cataracts read and write. It is a magnifying instrument but also allows patrons to view written material and images in different colors and in a negative or positive setting. These features are important depending on the type of vision impairment one experiences. The Merlin LCD is both effective and easy to use.

The Merlin LCD was generously donated by Nelson Chang of Saugus. It is located on a table in the Reading Room. You will find instructions for its use in a blue binder on the table. You may also ask a staff member for assistance.
