It may seem like spring is a long ways off, but Books in Bloom offers a preview of things to come. What is Books in Bloom? It is a an annual event, sponsored by the New Friends of the Saugus Public Library and Saugus Garden Club. Local flower enthusiasts put together floral arrangements that interpret a book’s title, book jacket, or theme. The arrangements must contain some fresh plant material (foliage, flowers etc.) and, of course, a book. Entries fit into one or more of the following categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Children’s Books, Young Adult Books, or Miscellaneous (horticulture, flower arranging, hobbies, etc.). Set up and staging of arrangements began on Thursday, March 15th in the Community Room. Showings take place around the library on Friday, March 16th (9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and Saturday, March 17th (9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). Come by the library on Friday or Saturday to take a walk around and enjoy the Books in Bloom!
