Policy Watch: Circulation

The Library’s Board of Trustees approved a revision to our Circulation Policy at its meeting on December 9, 2021. This codifies the elimination of fines for overdue Saugus items – a measure passed at the October 7, 2021 Board meeting – with the exception of Massachusetts Parks Passes. Please be aware that patrons may still be charged for long overdue items (in excess of 42 days overdue) and lost or damaged items. Also, note that items borrowed from other libraries may still be subject to overdue fines. The revision also:

– Adds the loan period for video games to the table on Page 2 of the policy (missing in the previous version)

– Specifies patrons under 18 must have a parent or guardian present in order to register for a card (an ongoing procedure not specified in the previous version)

– Specifies options for account verification for patrons who do not have their library card at hand when they wish to update their account, borrow materials, or change their PIN
