Thank you to the Saugus Cultural Council for giving us the opportunity to invite artist Sharon Morley to the library for a pastel painting workshop. The Saugus Cultural Council is a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

At the May 30 workshop Sharon started by showing an enthusiastic group of attendees the techniques of working with pastels. Next everyone had the opportunity to create a picture from a still life arranged by Sharon, or to take inspiration from a favorite photo.

As these remarks by participants show, Sharon is not only a talented artist but a great teacher:

• What a wonderful class! Sharon is the best and so encouraging and helpful. She takes the fear out of trying something new and totally out of one’s comfort zone!
