Lexington Minutemen at the Ironworks!

The Saugus Library was pleased to collaborate with the Ironworks  to help children and families celebrate the Saugus summer reading theme of  Massachusetts and the American Revolution.  Kids got to experience local history through two militia re-enactment groups:  the 17th century Salem Trayned Band and the 18th century Lexington Minutemen .   Pikes, drills and musket firing were all part of the show.  Kids dressed up in period costumes and cooled off with ice cream.  We hope it captured their imaginations!

Portions of this program were made possible by a generous donation from the New Friends of Saugus Library.
